ITEM: This news item was reported to us by a Golden City citizen.
Just recently there was an incident in Golden City involving dogs running at large.
Two large light colored Labrador looking dogs running at large invaded a citizens yard. This citizen had her tiny Yorky dog tied in her yard.
The two large dogs came into the yard and killed the tiny Yorky dog. The citizen said she had called 911. She warned a couple of “walkers” to be aware.
Can’t citizens walk the streets with out being concerned about being attacked by dogs running loose?
To whom did these large dogs running loose, belong to? Why were they allowed to be running at large? Was it for exercise? The tiny Yorky dog certainly got excersized.
Would it have been the same if this tiny dog had been a small child? Or even a person just out for a walk.
We contacted the city asking about the outcome. This is the response from City Hall. As you probably know, the Barton County Sheriff’s Department is our police for the town.
“As for the dog story, any information from this office would be “street talk”. If the citizen reportedly called 9-1-1, then the place to receive information of this nature would be the Barton County Sheriff’s Department. They don’t report their calls to this office.”
